Hitting newsstands this week (pick up a copy!), the May 2010 issue of Yoga Journal Magazine features the EIGHTH piece I’ve written for this great publication.
Can you believe it? EIGHTH!

Celebrating their 35th year, Yoga Journal has been publishing some great issues in 2010. In the May issue, check out page 22 for my collection of teen yoga classes all over the United States.

Oh yeah, you read the right. Only five months after I signed on to write my first book, I’ve got a 2nd book to scribe! Unlike the yoga book, this tome will be a bit more involved …
Tentatively titled 48 Things to Know About Sustainable Living, the basis is the same as my first book – a nifty & easy-to-understand guide to the basics of living sustainably. Same publisher (Turner), same price ($9.99), same physical size (6.5″ x 5.5″), & roughly the same number of pages (160). The difference? Eco-living is a MUCH BIGGER subject than yoga, so staying under my 30,000 word limit will be an interesting challenge.
The past 2 weeks, I’ve been waiting for my time-line from the publisher … and it’s finally here:
- Outline due Thursday, April 8th
- Sample due Friday, May 7th
- Manuscript due Friday, July 2nd
No word yet on if 48 Things to Know About Sustainable Living will be released in 2010 or 2011 – I’ll keep you posted.
As with my first book, I’ll be sharing my trials, tribulations, and overall progress right here on my blog. Being pregnant also adds another interesting factor into the mix (haha), but I certainly won’t be bored over the next 4 months!

A new season has not truly arrived until the new issue of Boho Magazine finds its way into my lap. Delightfully, the Spring 2010 installment has arrived & (bonus) it has an enchanting theme: Springtime in Paris!

This is the fourth issue of Boho that I’ve written for and it gets better every season! For Spring, I interview eco-fashion darling Bahar Shahpar for the My Boho Life column (pages 24-25) & French-native Alexandra Cousteau (granddaughter of infamous ocean advocate Jacques Cousteau) for the World Changing Chicks column (pages 78-79).

Remember me? Despite my best intentions, I did not take one single photo while visiting my husband’s family in Florida. NOT ONE! While the break was nice, I’m looking forward to getting back into my ole routine, including take photos.
The only post I submitted while on vacation was BIG ANNOUNCEMENT #1: I’M PREGNANT! (still waiting for the final details on BIG ANNOUNCEMENT #2). As such, today’s photo is related to my insatiable urge for knowledge on a topic I only have an elementary education about … having a baby.
I can be a bit of a worrywart sometimes, so I have been very picky about the books that I buy at the bookstore or rent from the library. You can’t know or even be prepared for everything – sometimes, you just have to go with the flow. I shall arm myself with knowledge, yet let my instincts decide when needed.

No fancy pictures. No jazzy fonts. Just the straight news that …
I’M PREGNANT!
My husband & I found out last week, but couldn’t tell the internet world until all our family members could share in the exciting news. We arrived in Florida yesterday & surprised his mom with a grandparenting book. She picked up on the clue right away – there was lots of screaming & hugging.
My current due date is November 2nd (currently 7 weeks along), though it is common in my family for the first baby to be 1-2 weeks late. As you’d expected, there will be baby updates here on the blog, along with all the other nifty things you already expect.
So … there you go, the 1st of my 2 BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS.

Goodbye my apartment in West Hartford, Connecticut. Tonight, we’re staying with my mum & she’ll be driving the husband and I to the airport tomorrow. She’s also kind enough to be watching Monster while we’re away.
Hooray for a week in Florida! This will be my first real vacation in 8 years! We’re also visiting my husband’s family for the last time before he goes to Marines boot camp in a few months.
Expect to see lots of sunny, near-tropical photos for the next week.

Dried flowers: not the best chi, but boy do they smell great!
Over at my mum’s house on this gorgeously sunny Tuesday, doing laundry before the trip to Florida on Thursday. Always nice to be in her company.

Some days, eating is just not a top priority. Of course we all need to stay healthy, but time usually isn’t on our side. No matter my schedule, I always make sure the husband & I have a good dinner … even if we don’t make it ourselves.

Enter: Amy’s Bowls. These vegetarian frozen meals are so tasty you forget they came out of the freezer. I first discovered Amy’s while living in San Francisco. My husband is a big meat eater, but even he enjoys having Amy’s Bowls for dinner 2 times a week.

Each meal contains less than 500 calories, though be sure to watch out for the sodium – eat only 1 of these a day! For dinner, we eat a side salad first & feel pleasantly satiated after our Amy’s Bowls. Just 5 minutes in the microwave and they’re ready.

Should we all eat more whole, unprocessed foods? Yes – duh! But I’m happy to have Amy’s Bowls as a part of my regular diet, thanks to their family-owned pride & use of organic ingredients. Visit Amy’s website to see more of the Amy’s Bowls (I’ve posted my top 3 favorites here) and check out the other hundreds of tasty foods they make (big fan of their pizzas & soups too).

Vibrant colors are slowly returning to the neighborhood.
Only 12 days until the “official” start of Spring … & only 4 days until the hubby & I visit his family in FL. This is the first time I’ve seen them since we got engaged AND married!
