The blog smackdown has begun!
Just kidding – that’s far too melodramatic. I’ve blogged for Tara Gentile of Scoutie Girl many times. She is a gem in the blogging world & I always smile when I see new posts from her blog in my feed reader.
Recently, she asked if anyone would be interested in having their blog critiqued. Yes, please.
I’m perpetually interested in having feedback from other; we all see things differently and can constantly learn from each other.

Today, Tara posted her dissection of my humble online outlet in a post titled The Blogging Game: Victoria Klein. She made some delightful praises and intelligent suggestions that I will happily follow, ironically focusing in on one of the biggest pet peeves I have about my blog. Thank you, Tara, for taking the time to share your blogging knowledge with me – you rock!

I love doing guest posts! This time, I’m over at Scoutie Girl (again) sharing my creative & sustainable New Year’s resolutions.

In this spirit of this post, I want to say a happy, healthy New Year to all my readers – wishing you lots of love & laughs for 2010 and beyond!

I did so well, she asked me back! Guest posting for a blog is always a delight, but being asked to guest post again is a major treat! My 2nd guest post for Tara Hogan’s Ink+Wit blog went live this week. Did you miss the first one? Check out the New England Handmade list!

Click on over to read about my Eco-Holiday Picks (shown above). There’s still time to order any or all of these sustainable items before the gift giving begins!
You tell me: Which eco-items are you wishing for this year?

I’ve posted about the awesomeness that is Ink+Wit (aka Tara Hogan) before – and she’s still great! When telling her about my first book project the other day, Tara inquired if I would be interested in guest posting on the Ink+Wit blog.
My answer: 100% yes!

Click on over to see my first (of many) guest posts on the Ink+Wit blog. For my cardinal post, I gathered a collection of swank holiday gifts handmade in New England (where I happen to be living & Tara is originally from). Do you have a favorite, New England-based creative? Tell us about them in the comments section!

I can’t help but be flattered when someone asks me to write a post for their blog. Guest blogging is a lot of fun & is just another way I can share what I know … which is why I became a writer in the first place!
Paul over at GreenSmith Consulting offered me the chance to write for his blog. Having been a long-time reader, I was happy to oblige.

Click on over to read Do You Know Your Community? Does the Community Know You? – my emphasis on the importance of local networking (something I, admittedly, don’t do enough of either, but it would help if I stopped moving around, haha).

Just when I started to think my collection didn’t pass muster, I’m surprised yet again. My very first gallery of personally-picked handmade goodies went live yesterday on the brand new website, Scoutie Girl Gifts.

Click on over to Scoutie Girl Gifts to take a peak at my favorite daily motivational art & prints.
If you have any extra minute, please rate the gallery, leave a comment, or mention the gallery elsewhere (easy links for Twitter, Facebook, Stumbleupon … etc are on the site). Enjoy!

Life is full of surprises & I wouldn’t have it any other way. Yesterday, I was greeted with a message from one of my favorite Etsy sellers, farouche.
The first surprise was the fact that I’d never actually spoken to Christy (from farouche), though I did have her shop bookmarked in my Etsy account. She just messaged me out of the blue.
The second surprise was that she featured one of my photographs on her blog, Dandy Bread and Candy!

My Butter Blooms print is a part of her latest “eye candy” post, all of which I could spent hours browsing through – so many great things to drool over. Ironically, her “Partly sunny with a chance of showers” post is a collection of items in one of my favorite color combos: yellow and gray. *swoon*
A big thank you to Christy for mentioning my photography! I discovered farouche thanks to Holly Becker from decor8 (what a gem she is!) & regularly dream of having their darling papers in my midst.

As if you haven’t heard enough about me from reading this blog, how about a sneak peak into my home … or my daily schedule? Liana at the Mixed Plate blog asked me to ask part in her on-going A Crafter’s Life column. Freakin’ sweet!

Click over to the Mixed Plate blog for my morning rituals, inspirations, workspace, perfect day, behind-the-scenes pictures … and oodles more! While you’re there, you should look around the rest of Liana’s blog – it’s pretty darn swank.
A big thank you to Liana for asking me to participate. I had a lot of fun!

The new little-blog-that-could has won an award! I am deeply touched to be one of the 50 blogs chosen for Fashion, Evolved’s Evolved Blogger Awards 2009.
Fashion, Evolved is an award-winning blog about sustainable, ethical fashion, beauty and personal style. As a professional freelance writer and internet gadfly, I’ve spent countless hours reading and appreciating other bloggers’ efforts. Over time, certain blogs have begun to stand out for their individual voice, regular updates, and excellent writing.
Yours is one of those blogs.
This year, I decided that recognizing my fellow bloggers is an important part of the mission I have for my own blog–a way to show my appreciation for other writers who inspire me by consistently putting out the best content on the internet.
We have every reason to be proud of our work. The blogging community has taken the lead in chronicling the grassroots rEvolution that is going on around the world today—empowering and educating the majority as we take back our economy, journalism, and our definition of ‘the good life.’
Two words: kick ass!
It’s always nice to know that people actually read my somewhat-strange ramblings from time to time.
Amanda, founder & writer of Fashion, Evolved, also had some uber-sweet things to say about my new online outlet:
Who They Are: Victoria (used to be Everman) Klein is a former fashion model currently working as a eco-consultant, freelance writer and photographer. She’s the original Green “It” Girl and an amazingly generous personality. Her blog covers all things green—from fashion and home décor to health and wellness topics.
Why I Read: I *heart* Victoria Klein!
I *heart* you too, Fashion, Evolved!

I’ve been reading magazines since I was 8 & now, as a writer, constantly strive to work with a wide variety of publications. Surprise: this is the first time I’ve been published and didn’t even send a query!
Canadian House & Home picked up one of my tweets and published it in their September 2009 issue. I already had plans to track down their 09/2009 issue because it was about decorating small spaces, one of my all-time favorite subjects. Then, the H&H editors mentioned 3 of us tweeters were on page 20 of the issue.

Thanks again to the CH&H editors for all the time they spend chatting with folks on Twitter. It is great to be able to truly feel connected to folks that make some of your favorite magazines.
Up next: writing a real article for Canadian House & Home – stay tuned!
